Oyo Governor Increases Cleaners’ Salaries at LAUTECH to N80,000

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has raised the monthly salaries of cleaners at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso from ₦15,000 to ₦80,000. This decision was made during a meeting with stakeholders at the hospital on Thursday.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, shared the news in a statement on Friday. The pay increase aligns the cleaners’ salaries with the national minimum wage.

This change came after the cleaners appealed to the governor during his visit to the hospital. Makinde also urged hospital workers who are currently on strike to allow his administration time to address their concerns.

He emphasized the importance of dialogue to resolve the ongoing disputes, saying, “If there are challenges, we must find ways to solve them.” He encouraged the workers to call off the strike to facilitate progress.

The Commissioner for Health, Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, praised the governor’s support for the health sector. He assured workers that the administration is dedicated to addressing issues that lead to strikes.
