Tinubu Support Group Defends President’s Commitment to Niger Delta Development

Engr Udengs Eradiri, the Media Director of the Tinubu Support Group in Bayelsa State, has expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to developing the Niger Delta region. He made these comments in response to former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke’s remarks about the difficulties posed by the region’s terrain.

Eradiri criticized Duke for what he called a lack of understanding of the Niger Delta’s geographical challenges. He described Duke’s comments as reckless and misleading, arguing that with the right engineering and political determination, the region can overcome its obstacles.

He pointed to the coastal road project initiated by the Tinubu administration as proof of the President’s resolve to tackle infrastructure issues in the area. Eradiri stated, “All over the world, engineering backed with serious governance has conquered terrains worse than the ones in the Niger Delta.”

He highlighted specific projects, such as the Bodo-Bonny road and the coastal road, as examples of Tinubu’s political will to pursue necessary infrastructure development. Eradiri emphasized that such projects demonstrate Tinubu’s capability to handle challenging situations that others might avoid.

According to Eradiri, the current administration’s increase in state allocations, following the removal of fuel subsidy, shows that the Niger Delta can indeed be developed. He believes that the region requires leaders who can mobilize resources and sustain investment in infrastructure.

Eradiri concluded that Duke’s comments reveal a disconnect with his fellow leaders in the region during his time as governor, suggesting that Bayelsa State and the Niger Delta are both capable of development.
