Nigerian Securities Commission Moves Key Conference to New Venue Ahead of Master Plan Launch

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has changed the location of its 2026 National Capital Market Conference from the Presidential Villa in Abuja to the Afreximbank African Trade Centre. This event, taking place today, will mark the launch of the Nigeria Capital Market Master Plan 2026–2036.

The new plan aims to outline how Nigeria’s capital market will develop over the next ten years. The conference is set to start at 10 a.m., with attendees asked to arrive by 9:30 a.m. The Vice-President of Nigeria will chair the conference, while the Minister of Finance will host it.

A key feature of the conference will be the unveiling of the master plan, which is designed to guide reforms in the capital market and enhance the mobilization of domestic savings. Another important aspect will be the signing of an agreement between the SEC, Financial Sector Deepening Africa, and the Nigeria Revenue Service to promote savings through fiscal incentives.

The event will also see the formation of two committees: the NCMMP 2.0 Project Steering Committee and the Capital Market Masterplan Implementation Committee. These groups will help ensure that the goals of the new master plan are put into action.

The SEC did not provide a reason for moving the venue, but the conference is expected to gather important stakeholders to discuss the future of Nigeria’s capital market and its role in supporting economic growth.
