Businessman KC Luxury Appears in Court via Ambulance, Seeks Medical Bail

Afolabi Michael Kazeem, known as KC Luxury, appeared in the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday while being transported in an ambulance. He was receiving oxygen as his lawyer requested his release on bail for medical care.

A correctional officer informed the court that Kazeem was critically ill and had been hospitalized. The attending nurse, Bukki Yahya from the Police Hospital in Falomo, Lagos, explained that Kazeem could not enter the courtroom because he was receiving oxygen in the ambulance. She stated that he had been admitted to the hospital on October 7, 2026, and diagnosed with asthma and sepsis, a serious infection.

Kazeem’s lawyer, Emefo Etudo, questioned why his client was brought to court in such a condition. Justice Musa Kakaki ordered that Kazeem be returned to the hospital for proper care.

Kazeem is facing charges alongside two others related to the trafficking of cocaine and money laundering. After the court’s decision, Etudo continued with Kazeem’s bail application, which was filed on October 16, 2026. He argued that Kazeem needed specialized medical treatment at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.

Etudo mentioned that Kazeem’s health had worsened, particularly after a lung collapse. He claimed that Kazeem was moved to a correctional center on October 13 despite his medical issues, and his condition deteriorated during transport, requiring a return to the hospital.

The prosecution, represented by Abu Ibrahim, opposed the bail application, stating that the defense was trying to revisit issues already considered by the court. Ibrahim argued that the medical evidence did not justify bail and described Kazeem as a flight risk.

In response, Etudo urged the court to grant bail under lenient conditions, assuring that Kazeem would attend future court proceedings. Justice Kakaki has postponed the decision on the bail application until October 28, 2026.
