Lagos Sports Writers Association Forms New Electoral Committee

A significant move for the Lagos State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) took place at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere on Friday. A seven-member Electoral Committee was inaugurated during an Extraordinary Congress.

Patrick Omorodion, the chairman of the Caretaker Committee, led the inauguration of the committee, known as SWANECO. Mozez Praiz will serve as the chairman, with McAnthony Anaelechukwu as the secretary. Other members include Dr. Abdul Rahmone Abulore, Soliu Adeyemo, Tega Onajaife, Jovita Ekeh, and Dr. Suo Chapele.

During the ceremony, Omorodion explained that the Caretaker Committee was given the responsibility by SWAN’s National body to create SWANECO. This aims to improve the chapter’s management and ensure a fair election process.

Praising the initiative, Praiz, the SWANECO chairman, committed to conducting the election fairly and promised to revitalize Lagos SWAN with various activities, including the previously held SWAN Cup.

Enitan Obadina, the National Welfare Officer who represented the National Executive, called this development a positive step for the growth of Lagos SWAN. He expressed satisfaction that Lagos is progressing well and emphasized the importance of following the constitution to include all members in the process.

Veterans of the association who attended the ceremony included notable figures such as Dr. Mitchel Obi and Kunle Solaja, among others. The National SWAN had established the Caretaker Committee on October 9, 2026, with Omorodion as chairman.
