Tinubu’s Aide Denies Political Motive Behind President’s Saudi Arabia Visit
Ademola Oshodi, a senior aide to President Bola Tinubu, has rejected claims that the President’s recent visit to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, was aimed at winning support from northern voters ahead of the 2027 elections.
During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Oshodi emphasized that the trip was strictly for religious reasons, as Tinubu is a Muslim. He noted that the visit was not political and mentioned that even an opposition governor, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, was present in Mecca for similar reasons.
Oshodi acknowledged the hardships facing Nigerians but stated that Tinubu is dedicated to improving the situation. The President arrived in Saudi Arabia on October 29 to perform Umrah, a pilgrimage that involves specific religious rites.
After completing the pilgrimage, Tinubu expressed fulfillment and mentioned that he seeks Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people. He also stated that he believes God has given him the wisdom to continue leading the nation.
Oshodi encouraged other presidential candidates for the upcoming elections to also seek divine favor.
