Man Arrested for Stabbing Neighbor Over Dispute About Roasted Meat

A man in Adamawa State has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed his neighbor to death during a disagreement about roasted meat. The incident took place on November 4, 2026, in the Mubi North Local Government Area.

According to police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroji, the conflict arose when 21-year-old Haggai Markus and 28-year-old Ibrahim Augustine argued over meat taken from a butcher’s table. During the argument, Augustine reportedly used a knife to stab Markus in the chest.

The police were alerted to the situation by Markus’s father shortly after the stabbing. When officers arrived, they found Markus dead at the scene. A knife was recovered as evidence, and Augustine was taken into custody.

Markus’s body was sent to the Federal Medical Centre in Mubi, where a doctor confirmed his death. The police plan to transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and legal action.

The Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, expressed condolences to Markus’s family and emphasized the importance of resolving disputes peacefully. He encouraged residents to report conflicts to the police rather than resorting to violence.
