Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Starts N1 Billion Headquarters Upgrade

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has started a significant upgrade at its national headquarters in Sauka, Abuja. The project is estimated to cost over N1 billion and is expected to be completed by December.

During a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, the Commandant-General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Audi, shared details about the upgrades. He mentioned that the improvements are meant to enhance the facilities and help the agency serve the public better.

The planned upgrades include building a new entrance gate, a quarter guard, fixing internal roads, and installing solar-powered streetlights. Audi stated that the work should be finished within eight weeks.

He emphasized the importance of giving the headquarters a modern look that aligns with global standards. The upgrades are part of Audi’s four-point plan to revitalize and improve the Corps.

The funding for these projects comes from special support instead of the regular budget. Audi thanked President Bola Tinubu for facilitating this initiative.

To ensure the quality of the work, a team of professional engineers, architects, and builders from the Corps will oversee the project. Audi noted that this upgrade is part of a larger strategy to strengthen the Corps’ ability to respond to security challenges in Nigeria.

He also highlighted the role of the NSCDC in maintaining internal security, particularly in protecting vital national assets. As the holiday season approaches, Audi mentioned that the Corps is preparing for security operations and will collaborate with other agencies to ensure safety during the festive period and leading up to the 2027 general elections.
