Anambra Governor Soludo Promises 50% Support for Tinubu in 2027 Elections

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has promised to secure at least 50 percent of the state’s votes for President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections. He made this announcement during the launch of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) 2027 National Campaign at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.

Soludo stated that APGA would not run its own presidential candidate but would back Tinubu, who is seeking re-election with the All Progressives Congress (APC). He explained that this decision was based on Tinubu’s commitment to the Igbo people, especially those in Anambra State.

The governor highlighted that Tinubu had previously appointed many people from Anambra to important positions while he was governor of Lagos. Soludo emphasized that the party’s support for Tinubu aligns with a political arrangement they have followed in past elections.

He recalled that in the 2023 presidential election, Anambra provided fewer than 5,000 votes for Tinubu. Despite this, Soludo noted that the President has continued to address some issues affecting the state and the South-East region.

Soludo urged the people of Anambra to rally behind Tinubu in the next election, arguing that a stronger vote would enhance the state’s ability to negotiate for development with the Federal Government. He stated, “We need to vote for him in order to sit with the government at the centre and negotiate for the development of the South-East and Anambra State.”
