Yobe Inter-Party Advisory Council Removes Chairman and Secretary Over Mismanagement

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Yobe State has removed its Chairman, Umaru Jajere, and Secretary, Mustapha Gado. This decision comes after allegations of mismanagement and lack of transparency.

The council announced the removal in a statement from its Acting Secretary, Habiba Umaru, following an emergency meeting on Thursday in Damaturu. The council stated that a vote of no confidence was passed against Jajere and Gado for failing to consult member political parties on key decisions and neglecting regular meetings.

IPAC accused the former leaders of using the council’s name to receive financial support from the North-East Development Commission and other organizations for their personal gain. The statement highlighted concerns from members about the misuse of the council’s name for personal benefit without informing or involving the member parties.

Jajere is affiliated with the Action Peoples Party, while Gado is from the Action Democratic Party. The council further claimed that the two had mismanaged resources and acted without proper authorization.

Following their removal, IPAC instructed Jajere and Gado to stop representing the council and to return all official documents and properties. The council appointed Mukhtar Audu Hassan from the All Progressives Congress as the acting chairman and Umaru from the Young Progressives Party as the acting secretary, effective immediately.

Hassan, speaking on behalf of the new leadership, promised to focus on transparency and inclusiveness. He called on member parties to support the new administration. Umaru also stated that the council would collaborate with the Independent National Electoral Commission and other stakeholders to ensure peaceful political activities and credible elections.
