President Tinubu Hails Sanwo-Olu at 60, Urges Sustained Focus on Fourth Mainland Bridge

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, celebrated today, Wednesday, June 25, 2025. While lauding Sanwo-Olu’s dedication to public service and significant achievements, President Tinubu specifically urged the governor to sustain his focus on impactful projects, notably the long-anticipated Fourth Mainland Bridge.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu hailed Governor Sanwo-Olu as a “dedicated public servant and visionary leader” who has shown “steadfast commitment” to the progress of Lagos. The President noted that Sanwo-Olu’s political journey began under his mentorship and that his administration has consistently aligned with the transformative master plan established during Tinubu’s own tenure as Lagos Governor from 1999 to 2007.

“Your execution of this vision is exemplified by landmark achievements, including completing the Blue and Red Rail lines and the ongoing preparations for the Purple Line, which will serve the vital Lekki corridor,” President Tinubu stated.

However, the President’s message also carried a clear call to action regarding key infrastructural projects. “I urge you to sustain this trajectory by prioritising impactful projects for Lagosians, notably the long-awaited Fourth Mainland Bridge and the Freedom Way to Victoria Garden City (VGC) Road,” Tinubu emphasized. The Fourth Mainland Bridge is a crucial project aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity across Lagos.

President Tinubu further wished Governor Sanwo-Olu “continued good health, longevity, and many more years of invaluable service to Lagos State and Nigeria.”
