Goodluck Jonathan Opens New Tricycle Factory in Abuja, Praises Government Support

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has opened a new cargo tricycle assembly factory in Abuja, praising the federal government for its support. The factory, operated by Zeetin Technologies, received import duty waivers to help with its establishment.

During the factory’s opening on Wednesday in Idu, Jonathan acknowledged the government’s role in facilitating the plant’s setup. He stated, “That is how it should be, and it is quite commendable.”

Azibaola Robert, chairman of Zeetin Technologies, explained that the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), along with the Nigeria Customs Service and the Federal Ministry of Finance, helped secure these duty waivers. He expressed gratitude to the government and mentioned plans to increase local production of parts in the next two years, aiming for 70 to 90 percent local content.

The factory’s launch is part of Zeetin Technologies’ goal to enhance automotive assembly and engineering in Nigeria. At the event, the company introduced two new cargo tricycle models, the VZ150 and VZ200 series, in partnership with Indonesia’s Viar Motors. They also announced future plans to develop electric, gas-powered, and solar-powered tricycles.

Zeetin Technologies is committed to boosting local manufacturing and contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s automotive industry. The commissioning event was attended by various dignitaries, including Mrs. Nenadi Usman, national chairperson of the Labour Party, who showed support for the company’s initiatives.
