Carlos Alcaraz to Compete in Vienna After Saudi Exhibition Cancelled

Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz is set to participate in the Vienna ATP tournament after a Saudi Arabian exhibition event was postponed. The tournament organizers announced this decision on Thursday.

The Saudi event, known as the Six Kings Slam, was originally scheduled for October 21-24 but was delayed due to recent attacks in the region. Tournament director Herwig Straka quickly reached out to Alcaraz’s management once the postponement was confirmed.

Straka expressed excitement about Alcaraz’s participation, stating, “His commitment is a tremendous honour for our tournament.” Alcaraz agreed to play in Vienna without much hesitation.

The Vienna tournament is set to start on October 26 and is part of the ATP 500-level events, featuring indoor hard courts. Other top players, including Daniil Medvedev and Frances Tiafoe, are also expected to compete.

Alcaraz has previously participated in the Vienna tournament, reaching the semi-finals in 2021. However, his performance has been inconsistent since returning from injury, having recently lost in the third round of the Shanghai Masters.
