Catholic Priest Abducted in Benue State, Nigeria

The Catholic Diocese of Otukpo has reported that one of its priests, Rev. Fr. John Otache, was kidnapped in Benue State. The priest, who leads St. Margaret’s Parish in Ohinmini Local Government Area, was taken on Tuesday while traveling along Qntobi Amejo — Ajegbe Road.

The announcement was made in a statement on Thursday by Rev. Fr. Joseph Aboyi Itodo, the Diocesan Chancellor. He expressed deep sadness over the incident and called for prayers for the priest’s safe return.

According to the police, the abduction occurred while Fr. John was returning home from Otukpo. The police spokesperson, DSP Peter Aondongu, confirmed the incident and stated that efforts are being made to rescue the priest.

The Church has asked the public, especially Christians, to pray for Fr. John’s quick release. The situation remains a concern for the local community as authorities work to address the kidnapping.
