Dafinone, Omo-Agege, and Emerhor Locked in Bitter Battle for Delta Central Senate Seat; APC Elders Panic as Titans Clash for Urhobo Leadership

The political temperature in Delta Central has “flipped the script” from calm to a boiling point as the race for the 2027 Senatorial ticket officially catches fire. The battle lines were drawn between three of the biggest names in the South-South APC: the incumbent Senator Ede Dafinone, former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, and the party’s founding father in the state, O’tega Emerhor. The “Solution” to who leads the Urhobo nation in the Red Chamber has turned into a fierce “Drill or Drop” contest that is threatening to polarize the party.

For Senator Ede Dafinone, the goal is “Renewed Hope” for continuity, leaning on his record of intellectual representation and his family’s deep-rooted political pedigree. However, the return of Ovie Omo-Agege to the senatorial conversation has sent a “Tsunami” through the district. Omo-Agege, known for his “Mace-to-Grass” influence, is reportedly looking to reclaim the seat he held for eight years to rebuild his base after the 2023 governorship race. Adding to the fire is Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, who many believe is the “Stabilizer” needed to bring the party back to its original vision.

“This is no longer a friendly match; it’s a heavyweight championship,” one local party chairman lamented in Ughelli today. The rivalry has already led to a split among the “Urhobo Progress Union” (UPU) youth wings, with different factions pledging loyalty to different camps. Critics warn that if these three titans don’t “tinker” with a peace deal soon, the internal friction could burn down the APC’s chances of ever taking over Delta State.

As the 2027 “political timetable” begins to loom large, the streets of Delta Central are being flooded with branded vehicles and posters of the three giants. With no clear favorite yet, the battle for the “Urhobo Heartland” is quickly becoming the most watched senatorial race in the country. For the average voter in Delta Central, the message is clear: the giants are awake, and the ground is definitely shaking.
