Death Sentence for Kidnapper in Sokoto After Triple Murder

The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced that Ibrahim Usman, also known as Dan Iyali, has been sentenced to death. This ruling is due to his involvement in the kidnapping and murder of three individuals in Sokoto State in September 2023.

Usman faced multiple serious charges in the Sokoto High Court. These included criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, and culpable homicide, which can lead to the death penalty. He was tried alongside other suspects who are still on the run.

This recent sentence follows a similar case where three men were also sentenced to death in Sokoto. In June 2026, Yusuf Muhammad, Jabbi Alhaji Yalle, and Kabiru Muhammad received death sentences for their roles in terrorism and illegal arms activities. They were arrested by the DSS Counter Terrorism Unit in June 2025.

The DSS continues to take strong actions against crime in the region, highlighting its commitment to public safety.
