Ex-Presidential Candidate Dumebi Kachikwu Challenges President Tinubu to Immediately Unveil and Prosecute Known Sponsors of Terrorism

The former Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu, has publicly challenged President Bola Tinubu to take the decisive step of exposing and prosecuting the sponsors and financiers of insecurity across Nigeria. Speaking at a media parley in Abuja, Kachikwu insisted that the era of secrecy surrounding the actors fueling terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping must end if the nation is to find peace.

Kachikwu expressed deep frustration over the prolonged crisis, noting that Nigerians have endured years of bloodshed without clarity on the identities or motives of those behind the violence. “Four presidents have come before you since this war started, and none of them told us the truth about what is really going on,” he stated. “Mr President, the time has come for us all to know our enemies and their motives. Is this a religious or political war? Who are the sponsors?”

He argued that the continuous shedding of innocent blood while perpetrators allegedly enjoy leniency is unacceptable. Kachikwu implored the President to go beyond threats of future exposure and immediately prosecute those known to be sabotaging the nation’s security efforts. The call gains momentum as it follows recent signals from a presidential aide suggesting that the Federal Government is already taking “far-reaching decisions” and would soon make public the names of individuals and networks allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

In addition to demanding transparency, the former presidential candidate reiterated his strong support for the restructuring of Nigeria’s security architecture, throwing his weight behind the establishment of State Policing. He also raised the controversial proposition that if the Federal Government cannot decisively end the war, citizens should be allowed to use any means possible, including being granted controlled access to firearms, to defend themselves.
