FG Blasts Contractors for ‘Turtle Pace’ on Lokoja-Abuja Highway; Threatens to Fire Non-Performing Firms Immediately!

The Federal Government has finally run out of patience with the companies fixing the Lokoja-Abuja highway. After seeing how slow the work is going, the Ministry of Works has told the contractors to either “speed up” or pack their bags and leave the site.

The Lokoja-Abuja road is one of the busiest and most important roads in Nigeria, but for years, it has been under construction with no end in sight. During an inspection of the project, the Minister of Works was reportedly furious to find many sections of the road deserted or moving at a “snail’s pace.”

“We have paid the money, so why is the work not moving?” the Minister questioned. He made it clear that the government is no longer interested in stories about the high cost of cement or security issues. The order is simple: finish the road so Nigerians can travel in peace.

For commuters who spend hours in traffic on this road every day, this “tough talk” from the government is a relief. The highway is currently a nightmare for travelers, with broken-down trucks and narrow diversions causing massive delays.

The government has now given the contractors a strict new timeline. If they don’t show real progress by next month, their contracts will be revoked and given to new companies who are ready to work day and night to get the job done.
