Flydubai Co-Pilot Allegedly Planned Terror Attack During Flight to Israel

The co-pilot of a Flydubai flight heading to Israel reportedly planned a terrorist act, according to the United Arab Emirates’ attorney general. The official news agency WAM reported that the co-pilot used an emergency axe to attack the captain in the cockpit.

Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi stated that initial findings suggest the co-pilot attempted to seize control of the aircraft. A passenger on the flight described the situation as chaotic, claiming the plane was nearly out of control during the attack.

Miryam Shira Ohayon, a passenger, said the co-pilot tried to kill the captain and intended to crash the plane. She praised the quick actions of other passengers who helped subdue the co-pilot and prevent a disaster. A doctor on board also provided first aid to those injured.

Ohayon’s mother, Yasmin Abukasis, shared that her daughter was on the flight to attend a memorial service for her brother, who was killed in a recent attack. She described the scene in the cockpit, noting that it was bloody and chaotic.

Two other pilots on the flight managed to take control and diverted the plane to Saudi Arabia, avoiding further tragedy. Fortunately, aside from the captain, there were no serious injuries reported.
