FRSC Intercepts Stolen Pick-up in Midnight Abuja Patrol, Hands Over Vehicle to Police

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recorded a major security breakthrough in Abuja after intercepting a stolen white pick-up truck and transferring it to the Nigeria Police Force for comprehensive investigation.

The recovery occurred during a late-night patrol when the Tow Truck Team attached to the RS7.1 FCT Sector Command spotted the suspicious vehicle a white pick-up bearing registration number YAB 677 XD abandoned along the expressway leading toward Berger in the Wuye district of the nation’s capital.

According to a statement issued by Corps Public Education Officer Osondu Ohaeri, the operatives secured the vehicle and conducted an on-site search, discovering original vehicle documents left inside. Utilizing the phone numbers listed in the ownership records, FRSC officials contacted the rightful owner to confirm the vehicle’s status and initiated official handover proceedings.

To facilitate further criminal tracking and procedural clearance, the Sector Commander of the FCT Command, Corps Commander Tijjani Iliyasu, invited the FCT Police Command to take custody of the vehicle. The formal handover was conducted by Deputy Corps Commander Sabitu Abdu (Operations) and received by CSP Nuhu Usman on behalf of the FCT Commissioner of Police.

Reacting to the recovery, FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed commended the patrol crew for their professionalism and vigilance. He emphasized that the intervention reflects the Corps’ ongoing transition toward intelligence-led highway surveillance, technology-backed operations, and active synergy with sister security agencies to safeguard lives and property across Nigerian roads.
