Dele Momodu Predicts Peter Obi Will Defeat Soludo in Anambra for 2027 Election

Veteran journalist and publisher Dele Momodu has made strong predictions about the 2027 presidential election. He believes that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate in the 2023 election, could defeat President Bola Tinubu in the South-East and parts of the South-South regions.

During an interview on Arise Television, Momodu expressed confidence in Obi’s popularity, stating that he could significantly challenge Tinubu’s chances for re-election. He claimed, “I can bet my life on it that Peter Obi will humiliate and disgrace Soludo in Anambra state.”

Momodu referred to Obi as a “rock star” in the South-East and South-South, suggesting that his appeal could impact Tinubu’s electoral prospects in those areas. Despite this, Momodu declared his own support for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who is also running for president under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He emphasized the importance of opposition leaders uniting to increase their chances of winning the election. Momodu said, “I’m supporting Atiku, but I will be very happy when people say, ‘Oh, if you don’t come together, you are going to lose election.’”

Momodu warned that Tinubu would face challenges if Obi maintained his influence in the South-East and South-South. He noted that Tinubu would need strong support from these regions while also competing for votes in the North.

In the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu won while Obi finished third, behind Atiku. The upcoming 2027 election is expected to bring renewed competition among major political parties, with calls for a united opposition against the ruling All Progressives Congress.
