Nigerian Army Adds Three New Units in Kebbi State to Boost Security

The Nigerian Army has announced the creation of three new units in Kebbi State to improve security in the area. This decision comes as the state faces challenges related to its borders and criminal activities.

In a statement on Monday from Birnin-Kebbi, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, welcomed the Army’s move. He emphasized that these new units show the Army’s commitment to tackling security issues not just in Kebbi, but across Nigeria.

The new formations include the 28 Armoured Brigade and Garrison in Birnin Kebbi, the 281 Tank Battalion in Yauri, and the 381 Artillery Regiment in Kaoje. These units aim to improve security operations and allow for quicker responses to threats in Kebbi and nearby areas.

Ahmed acknowledged the efforts of other security agencies, such as the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilante groups, in maintaining safety in the state. He highlighted the importance of teamwork among security forces, local communities, and stakeholders to effectively combat crime.

The Commissioner also noted that these developments are a result of the ongoing advocacy by Kebbi’s Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, for more security resources to address the state’s unique challenges. He assured that the state government will continue to support all security agencies in their work.

He urged the people of Kebbi to work closely with security forces by sharing information about criminal activities. The Commissioner stressed that public cooperation is vital for achieving lasting peace and stability in the state.

Finally, he called on the youth to avoid violence and criminal behavior, stating that peace is essential for the state’s development and economic growth.
