Nigerian Army Intercepts Terrorist Supply Chain, Arrests Seven Logistics Suppliers in Northeast Raids

The Nigerian Army has dealt a significant blow to the operational capabilities of terrorists in the Northeast, announcing the arrest of seven key logistics suppliers during a series of coordinated intelligence-led raids. The arrests are part of an ongoing offensive by troops of Operation Hadin Kai to degrade the supply network sustaining various terror groups, including Boko Haram and its splinter faction, ISWAP.

The Director of Defence Media Operations confirmed the arrests, stating that the suppliers were apprehended in different locations across Borno State, following credible intelligence on their activities. The suspects are believed to be part of a sophisticated network responsible for providing essential supplies—including food items, fuel, medicine, and other non-lethal materials—to terrorists operating in the Lake Chad basin and Sambisa Forest.

“These arrests are a crucial victory in our fight against terrorism,” a military source stated. “Disrupting the logistics network is as important as direct combat. By starving these groups of the resources they need to operate, we are systematically weakening their ability to launch attacks and sustain their insurgency.”

The raid and subsequent arrests highlight the effectiveness of the military’s renewed focus on intelligence-gathering and non-kinetic warfare strategies. For years, terrorists have relied on a web of suppliers, often from local communities, to keep their operations running, bypassing conventional military patrols. The identification and apprehension of these suppliers signal a major breakthrough in exposing and dismantling this clandestine support system.

The suspects are currently in military custody and are undergoing thorough interrogation to uncover the full extent of their network, including potential high-profile collaborators and the sources of their supplies. The information gathered is expected to be vital for future operations and for further strengthening the security architecture in the region.

The Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, has reiterated its commitment to flushing out all remnants of terrorism from the country and urged local communities to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces to enable more successful operations. The arrests are a testament to the military’s resolve to bring an end to the insurgency that has plagued the Northeast for over a decade.
