Nigerian troops have achieved a significant victory in their fight against terrorism in Borno State. The Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) announced that they neutralized over 25 members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a recent attack in Kukawa.

The assault involved a large group of terrorists attacking the 101 Special Forces Battalion from multiple directions. However, the troops responded effectively, using superior firepower and strategic maneuvers to push back the attackers. Some soldiers lost their lives in the encounter, which the army described as fierce.

According to a statement from the Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, the troops were able to recover 14 bodies of the terrorists and a cache of weapons, including six AK-47 rifles. The army is continuing operations in the area to find more weapons and track down any remaining terrorists.

The Nigerian Army expressed condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, honoring their bravery and commitment to duty. They emphasized that the success of this operation highlights the readiness and effectiveness of their forces in the region.

The army also reiterated its commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorist groups, promising ongoing patrols and coordinated efforts with other security agencies to protect communities and combat criminal activities.
