NSCDC Sends 3,000 Officers to Abuja for Nigeria’s Independence Day Security

To ensure safety during Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 3,000 officers across Abuja. This announcement was made by DSC Monica Ojobi, the Federal Capital Territory Command’s Public Relations Officer.

The deployment was ordered by Dr. Olusola Odumosu, the FCT Commandant. It aims to enhance security, maintain order, and protect people and property before, during, and after the celebrations.

The officers include members from various specialized units, such as the Arms Squad and the Counter-Terrorism Unit. They will focus on key areas like shopping malls, markets, motor parks, and recreational centers, as well as critical national assets throughout the capital.

Additionally, the NSCDC has activated undercover operatives to gather intelligence and monitor potential criminal hideouts. They will also keep an eye on uncompleted buildings and other known problem areas.

Odumosu has instructed local commanders to maintain a strong presence in their areas and to ensure their teams are vigilant during the celebrations. He emphasized the importance of preventing any security breaches.
