Ogun PDP Accuses APC of Influencing INEC to Omit Candidate from Election List

Ogun PDP Accuses APC of Influencing INEC to Omit Candidate from Election List

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of influencing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to leave out their governorship candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, from its official list ahead of the 2027 general elections.

PDP’s Publicity Secretary, Kayode Adebayo, stated that the omission was a result of undue pressure from the APC, which he claimed is worried about the PDP’s prospects in the upcoming election. He urged party supporters and residents to remain calm despite the controversy.

Adebayo expressed confidence that INEC would eventually publish the names of their candidates, insisting that the omission would not hinder Adebutu’s participation in the election. He reaffirmed that Adebutu is a legitimate member of the PDP and has not left the party, emphasizing that he was properly registered during the digital registration period.

The PDP urged the people of Ogun State to stay focused on the 2027 governorship election and not be distracted by this development.

In response, the APC dismissed the PDP’s claims, suggesting they should accept their failures instead of blaming others. Kayode Odunaro, the chairman of the APC Campaign Council Media and Publicity Committee, stated that their candidate is ready to compete as certified by INEC. He criticized the PDP for not following necessary procedures and suggested that other candidates from different states faced similar issues.

Odunaro called on the PDP to stop blaming the APC and focus on adhering to the rules of the electoral process.
