Only Female Candidate Yemisi Adeagbo Celebrates 4th Place Finish in Osun Governorship Polls

Action Democratic Party candidate Yemisi Adeagbo has reacted to the outcome of the Osun State governorship election, noting that official results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission placed her campaign in fourth position out of fourteen participating political parties.

Adeagbo, who made history as the only female candidate contesting for governor on the ballot, pulled 2,946 votes across the state. Finishing right behind the major political machinery of Accord, the All Progressives Congress, and the African Democratic Congress, her fourth-place standing marks a remarkable achievement for a non-mainstream political movement.

Reflecting on the final tally, the ADP flagbearer expressed deep gratitude to the voters who trusted her vision despite the intense rivalry between major political parties. She noted that stepping onto the ballot as the lone woman in the gubernatorial race was a proud milestone, demonstrating that female leaders can compete boldly on major political stages.

Adeagbo urged female political aspirants across Nigeria not to be intimidated by established political structures or societal barriers. She called on political parties and civil society groups to provide stronger financial and institutional support for women seeking executive offices, emphasizing that sustainable national development requires equal representation at all levels of leadership.
