Oyo Governor Calls for Transparency in Nigeria’s Fuel Pricing

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has urged the Federal Government to publish its petrol pricing details. He believes that Nigerians deserve to know how fuel prices are set. Makinde made this statement during a meeting with members of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Yola, Adamawa State.

He emphasized that transparency in fuel pricing would help citizens understand the factors that affect costs. This, he argues, could lead to better solutions for Nigeria’s energy issues. Makinde also pointed out significant challenges the country faces, including insecurity, poverty, and unreliable electricity supply.

In addition, he raised concerns about Nigeria’s standing in the regional oil market. He noted that neighboring countries, like Chad and Niger, are using different export routes, which may indicate issues with Nigeria’s energy infrastructure and competitiveness.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Makinde promised that his administration would focus on transparency and national unity. He proposed a transitional Government of National Unity to encourage broader political participation and address the country’s political challenges.

During the meeting, Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed also spoke. He called for a new governance approach based on federalism and inclusive leadership. He stressed the need for a political system that represents diverse interests and fosters national development.

The meeting in Yola gathered party leaders and candidates from the North-East, allowing discussions on the party’s future direction and Nigeria’s pressing issues. As the 2027 elections approach, the APM aims to turn its commitments into actionable policies that earn public trust.
