Pensioners Praise NSITF for Implementing Supreme Court Ruling on Payments

Pensioners of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) have expressed their gratitude to the agency’s management for finally implementing a Supreme Court ruling that benefits them. This comes after a lengthy 23-year legal struggle.

The pensioners, represented by the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), NSITF Chapter, thanked Managing Director Oluwaseun Faleye for his commitment to their welfare. In a letter dated October 7, 2026, the union highlighted the management’s efforts to improve the lives of retired workers.

They specifically appreciated the recent increase of N32,000 in their monthly pensions and the payment of all approved arrears. The pensioners noted that these actions provided much-needed relief, especially for those who dedicated their careers to serving the nation.

The union also recognized the implementation of additional pension increases of 20 and 28 percent, calling these measures vital for enhancing their welfare. They noted that some retirees had spent decades in court waiting for their rights to be acknowledged.

The pensioners described the resolution of this long-standing issue as a significant achievement, particularly for those who had been seeking justice for many years. They praised Faleye’s leadership and expressed their support for his continued efforts to improve the situation for retired workers.

In closing, the union reaffirmed their confidence in the NSITF management and pledged their cooperation, wishing Faleye success in his role.
