Police Dismantle Criminal Syndicate, Arrest Seven Suspects, and Recover Cache of Stolen Property in Strategic State-Wide Raids
The Jigawa State Police Command has scored a significant victory in its ongoing battle against urban crime, announcing the arrest of seven suspects and the recovery of a substantial haul of stolen goods.
In a series of coordinated raids carried out across the state, police tactical units targeted known criminal hideouts, resulting in the apprehension of the seven individuals who are believed to be behind a recent wave of robberies and housebreaking incidents in the Dutse and Hadejia corridors.
Confirming the development, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, stated that the operation was the result of weeks of meticulous intelligence gathering. “Our officers acted on actionable intelligence to smoke out these elements who have been terrorizing residents,” DSP Adam said. “The suspects were found in possession of several items they could not account for, including five motorcycles, over a dozen high-end mobile phones, and various household electronics.”
Beyond the stolen property, the police also recovered several “dangerous items,” including locally made pistols and charms, which the suspects allegedly used to intimidate their victims. Preliminary investigations show that the syndicate specialized in tracking residents from markets and banks before striking at their homes or during transit.
The PPRO further revealed that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and are providing useful information that could lead to the arrest of other gang members still at large. “We are not resting on our oars. The Commissioner of Police has directed all Divisional Police Officers to intensify patrols, especially in rural areas where these criminals often seek refuge,” Adam added.
The successful operation has been met with relief by local business owners and residents, many of whom have expressed concerns over security following the festive period. As the state moves into the first week of 2026, the Jigawa Police Command has reassured the public that it remains committed to maintaining the “zero-tolerance” policy for crime and will ensure all the arrested suspects are charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
