Seoul Spy Agency Reports North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un is ‘Extremely Obese’
South Korea’s spy agency has reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is classified as “extremely obese.” This assessment was shared by lawmaker Youn Kun-young, who noted that Kim weighs over 140 kilograms, which is about 310 pounds.
Kim, who is known for being a heavy smoker, has had his health closely monitored due to concerns that his sudden death could create instability in North Korea. Despite being at high risk for heart disease, he has shown no signs of health issues and can still engage in physical activities, such as running up stairs.
Speculation about Kim’s health has been ongoing, especially after he disappeared from public view for about 20 days in 2020, leading to rumors about his well-being. His father, Kim Jong Il, and grandfather, Kim Il Sung, also struggled with obesity and both died from heart attacks.
North Korea faces multiple international sanctions related to its weapons programs, which have contributed to a struggling economy and food shortages. Elizabeth Salmon, a UN expert on human rights in North Korea, highlighted that food shortages are a significant humanitarian issue in the country.
Interestingly, Kim has a reputation for enjoying luxury foods. According to chefs who have worked with him, he has a taste for rare meats, caviar, and other high-end dishes.
