Seyi Makinde Rallies Southwest APM Governorship Candidates to Build Regional Powerhouse

Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has held a strategic planning meeting with the party’s governorship candidates across the Southwest geopolitical zone.

The high-level gathering brought together APM gubernatorial flagbearers, including Bimbo Adekanmbi (Oyo), Prince Laja Adeoye (Lagos), Rotimi Babajide (Ogun), as well as their counterpart from Osun State, to harmonize campaign operations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Disclosing details of the strategic session, Lagos State APM governorship candidate Prince Laja Adeoye noted that discussions focused on consolidating local party branches, tightening grassroots alignment, and coordinating campaign messaging across all six Southwestern states. According to Adeoye, the collective goal is to transform Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo into fortified strongholds for the APM ticket.

Governor Makinde’s move comes on the heels of his strategic political realignment. After navigating prolonged internal crises and legal entanglements within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Makinde transitioned his political structure to the APM, where he clinched the party’s presidential flag at its national primary election in Ibadan.

Addressing the candidates, Makinde urged party flagbearers to remain focused on issue-based campaigning, practical economic reform, and direct voter engagement. He emphasized that building a disciplined, synchronized network across the Southwest will serve as the foundation for the party’s national campaign strategy in 2027.
