Train Collision in Spain Leaves at Least 10 Dead and Many Injured

A collision between two high-speed trains south of Madrid has resulted in at least 10 deaths, according to a regional government spokeswoman. Esther Padilla, from the Castilla-La Mancha government, indicated that the number of fatalities could rise as more information becomes available.

Local officials reported that many people were injured in the crash. Manuel Galan, the mayor of Urda, stated, “Two trains have collided — there are people injured,” while emergency services confirmed the collision occurred just before 9:00 am local time.

Emergency responders have deployed multiple resources to the scene, including fire crews, helicopters, and mobile intensive care units. The rail infrastructure company, ADIF, has also confirmed the collision and announced the suspension of the high-speed rail line from Madrid to the south.

This tragic incident follows another rail crash in Adamuz last year that resulted in 46 deaths. Authorities are currently working to assess the situation and provide aid to those affected.
