“Stop Being a Villa Errand Boy!” PDP Governors Blast Fayose for Attacking Seyi Makinde Over Aso Rock Visit
The internal war within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a messy turn as the party’s governors have collectively descended on former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose. The governors didn’t hold back, labeling the former “Oshokomole” of Ekiti a “political liability” who has turned himself into an unofficial spokesperson for the Presidency.
The drama started after Fayose went public with what he called the “untold story” of Governor Seyi Makinde’s recent visit to President Bola Tinubu. Fayose claimed the Oyo State Governor was “rebuffed” and “cautioned” by the President for playing double-faced politics. He even mocked Makinde for taking Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang along, suggesting he was too “scared” to face the Commander-in-Chief alone.
However, the PDP Governors’ Forum has now stepped in to “clear the air” and silence the former governor. In a strongly worded statement, the Forum’s Director-General, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, suggested that Fayose is simply suffering from “relevance deprivation” and is desperately trying to audition for a job at the Presidential Villa.
“It is exigent to respond to Fayose’s latest gaffe to draw attention to his degenerative public demeanour,” the statement read. The governors argued that Makinde, as a high-ranking state executive, has every right to meet with the President on governance matters without having his motives twisted by “partyless politicians” looking for attention.
The Forum further alleged that Fayose has been making “unsuccessful attempts” to offer his services to the APC-led Presidency and has now resorted to acting as an “attack dog” to prove his worth. They defended the presence of Governor Mutfwang at the meeting, describing it as a sign of unity among PDP leaders rather than a lack of courage.
As the 2027 political engine begins to rev up, this latest clash proves that the ghosts of past betrayals still haunt the PDP. For the governors, the message to Fayose is simple: if you want to work for the Villa, do it openly but stop using sitting PDP governors as your stepping stone.
