TinCan Customs Concludes Week-Long In-House Training to Sharpen Senior Officers’ Operational Competence and Integrity

The TinCan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has concluded a week-long in-house training for its senior officers, marking a crucial step in the command’s continuous drive for professionalism and efficiency. The training, which ran from October 13 to 17, 2025, was designed to significantly enhance the operational competence and leadership capacity of personnel across various units.

In a statement released on Thursday, October 30, 2025, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs, Oscar Ivara, confirmed the successful conclusion of the exercise.

The training covered key operational areas relevant to the challenging port environment. Declaring the program open earlier this month, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, emphasized the strategic importance of the initiative.

“This training is not just a routine exercise but an investment in the growth of our personnel,” Comptroller Onyeka stated. He stressed that continuous capacity building is vital for sustaining the efficiency and integrity expected of the Customs Service, particularly at a critical entry point like the TinCan Island Port.

The Customs Command reiterated its commitment to upholding global best practices in port operations and ensuring that its senior officers possess the necessary expertise and ethical fortitude to execute their mandates effectively, thereby facilitating trade and strengthening national security.
