Traditional Worshippers Demand Answers After Security Operatives Invade Ifa Leader Tani Olorun’s Community

The Assembly of Traditional Religion Worshippers (ATRWOS) in Ondo State has voiced strong outrage following an alleged security raid on the community of prominent Ifa traditional leader, Tani Olorun.

The incident sparked intense concern across traditional institutions following reports that security personnel attempted to forcibly enter and occupy the community grounds. In an official statement signed by ATRWOS Secretary Adeyinka Ojopagogo on behalf of state leader Chief Adewale Oso, the association expressed alarm over the aggressive tactics, emphasizing that fundamental human rights and freedom of worship must be respected regardless of faith or tradition.

The traditionalist body called on the Nigeria Police Force to immediately provide a transparent account of the operation. Challenging the legal basis of the action, ATRWOS demanded that police authorities disclose who authorized the raid, what legal grounds or search warrants justified the move, and what specific objectives the officers were tasked to achieve. The leadership further demanded strict disciplinary measures if any officers are found to have acted outside established legal protocols.

Commending residents of Tani Olorun’s community for maintaining composure during the confrontation, ATRWOS urged the public to stay law-abiding and avoid taking matters into their own hands. The traditional leadership reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful resolution and appealed for an independent inquiry to ensure accountability and prevent further escalation.
