2027 Asian Cup Football Tournament Delayed to December
The 2027 Asian Cup football tournament in Saudi Arabia has been postponed from January to December. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced the change due to “exceptional circumstances” in the region.
Recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia have led to the cancellation or postponement of several major sports events. The AFC stated that the decision to reschedule the tournament was made after discussions with Saudi officials.
The tournament was originally set to take place from January 7 to February 5, 2027. The new dates are now December 23, 2027, to January 21, 2028. The cities of Jeddah, Riyadh, and Al Khobar will host the month-long event.
The AFC highlighted that the postponement was necessary to ensure the safety and organization of the event for all involved, including teams, officials, and spectators.
