FG Vows to Remodel NIPSS into Digitally Driven Global Policy Centre by 2030, Integrates Institute’s Outputs into National Decision-Making
The Federal Government has reaffirmed its deep commitment to a comprehensive transformation agenda for the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, with the goal of turning the nation’s premier think-tank into a digitally driven, financially stable, and globally recognised centre of excellence by 2030.
This commitment was voiced by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the graduation ceremony of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 47 at the NIPSS headquarters on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Shettima stated that the remodelling of the institute is central to the administration’s broader agenda of strengthening evidence-based policymaking and leadership development in Nigeria.
The Vice President emphasized that the administration views NIPSS as the nation’s most strategic platform for generating the ideas that must guide reform and influence the course of national development. Crucially, the support promised to the institute will transcend conventional funding and infrastructure projects.
“His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been unequivocal in his commitment to supporting NIPSS in its transformation agenda, particularly its ambition to become a digitally driven, financially stable, and globally recognised centre of excellence by 2030,” Shettima said. He further stressed: “Our support must therefore go beyond funding… It must ensure that NIPSS produces implementation-ready policy papers and that its outputs are fully integrated into national decision-making and execution frameworks.”
The graduation ceremony follows a recent directive from President Tinubu, who assigned NIPSS an expanded national security mandate to conduct a nationwide security diagnostic and provide actionable recommendations for overhauling the country’s security architecture. Furthermore, the recommendations stemming from SEC 47’s theme, “Blue Economy and Sustainable Development in Nigeria,” have been flagged for immediate review and implementation by relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), cementing NIPSS’s role as a key intellectual engine of national transformation.
