Police Smash Five-Man Robbery Gang, Recover Stolen Bikes, Cash, and ATM Cards in Statewide Raid

The Jigawa State Police Command has intensified its “zero-tolerance” policy on criminality, successfully dismantling a five-man robbery syndicate that has been a thorn in the side of residents in Taura and Ringim.

In a statement released on Tuesday, February 10, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, detailed how a string of coordinated raids led to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of a significant cache of stolen property. The breakthrough began in Taura LGA, where 22-year-old Ahmed Musa was intercepted with a collection of mobile phones, ATM cards, and cash items police say were stripped from victims during recent housebreakings.

The crackdown quickly spread to the Ringim Division, where four more robbery suspects, including Abdullahi Danladi, were cornered by detectives. This five-man group is allegedly responsible for a series of “waylay” operations along major transport corridors in the state.

“Our operatives are working around the clock to ensure that Jigawa remains a hostile environment for criminals,” SP Adam stated. “From the recovery of stolen motorcycles in Hadejia to the arrest of these syndicates, the message is clear: the law will always catch up.”

In addition to the robbery suspects, the police successfully recovered a white Jincheng motorcycle that had been reported stolen from a home in Hadejia town. The bike has since been returned to the grateful owner on bond. Livestock rustlers were not spared either, as several animals, including a stolen camel and rustled cows, were recovered in the Maigatari and Madori axes.

Commissioner of Police Dahiru Muhammad has urged residents to maintain a “State of Harmony” by providing timely information to security agencies. With the suspects now facing a date in court, the Jigawa Command is proving that it is not just reactive, but proactive in securing the lives and property of the people.
