Akpabio Eulogizes Tinubu as a Rare Visionary Leader; Says APC’s Success Has Reduced Opposition to ‘Others’ as Party Hits 32 Governors
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the primary architect of Nigeria’s modern transformation, asserting that the President’s “ingenuity” is successfully steering the country through its toughest economic hurdles. Speaking at the 2026 APC National Convention on Friday night, March 27, Akpabio told thousands of delegates that the “Solution” to Nigeria’s long-standing problems is finally being implemented through the “Renewed Hope” agenda.
Akpabio’s speech “flipped the script” on critics of the administration’s reforms. He argued that the difficult decisions made over the last 34 months such as the removal of the fuel subsidy were necessary to prevent a total economic collapse. “In you, Mr. President, we have a man who has sight and also has vision, and you are translating it to Nigeria,” Akpabio declared to a cheering crowd. He emphasized that the tangible results, from the agricultural revolution to the rapid expansion of the national rail network, are the reasons why politicians from across the country are flocking to the APC.
The Senate President also used the platform to celebrate the President’s 74th birthday, which will fall on Sunday, March 29. He described Tinubu as an “audacious” leader with a “Midas touch” for resetting the nation’s foundation. Akpabio pointed out that under Tinubu’s leadership, the APC has moved from a position of strength to absolute dominance, now controlling 32 out of 36 states. “By election day in 2027, we may have 36 over 36,” he predicted, signaling the party’s confidence ahead of the next general election.
Assuring the President of the total cooperation of the 10th National Assembly, Akpabio maintained that when the legislature and executive are aligned, “Nigeria definitely will see progress.” He concluded by promising Nigerians that the current security challenges would soon be a thing of the past, as the President’s strategic approach to intelligence and coordination begins to take full effect across the federation.
