Police Bust 65-Year-Old Separatist Suspect, Female Drug Dealer, and Accomplices in Major Anambra Raids

The Anambra State Police Command has dealt a significant blow to criminal networks in the state, arresting a 65-year-old suspected separatist operative, a female drug dealer, and several other suspects during coordinated raids on criminal hideouts.

The enforcement operations were carried out by tactical units under directives aimed at eliminating violent crime, cultism, and illegal narcotics distribution across the state.

Confirming the arrests, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit acted on credible intelligence to arrest 65-year-old Ifeanyi Ogbuagbo in Umudioka. A search of the suspect’s residence led to the recovery of military camouflage and expended ammunition shells concealed inside a polythene bag. Police investigations revealed that the suspect is affiliated with an armed gang agitating for self-governance.

In a separate operation, tactical teams stormed a notorious criminal den and drug-dealing hub in Ekwulobia, located in the Aguata Local Government Area. Operatives apprehended a 25-year-old female suspected drug dealer, Chisom Okafor, alongside male suspects identified as Onyedika Moses, 36; Iruka Nwaonu, 30; Joseph Nwankwo, 36; Chukwujekwu Nwoso, 32; and Akanimo Orok, 40.

During the search of the Ekwulobia hideout, operatives seized sizable quantities of dried weeds suspected to be Cannabis Sativa as well as various other illicit substances.

Commending the tactical teams, Anambra State Commissioner of Police Nnanna Ama reiterated that the command will sustain aggressive patrols and intelligence-driven raids to dismantle illicit networks and deny criminal elements safe havens throughout the state.
