Enugu Air Reschedules Flights as Protesting Aviation Unions Block Terminal Entrances

Air travelers heading through the federal capital are facing fresh travel delays after Enugu Air was forced to reschedule its Abuja flight operations following an industrial blockade by aviation labor unions.

The airline confirmed the service disruptions in an official notice, revealing that operations at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport came to a temporary standstill after union workers barricaded terminal entrances and prevented airline personnel from reaching their posts.

The industrial action is linked to a broader protest spearheaded by key aviation unions—supported by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC)—revolving around worker unionization rights and disputes over unremitted statutory ticket charges.

The nationwide protest hit major travel hubs hard, with other operators such as Air Peace and United Nigeria Airlines also reporting stranded passengers and forced flight suspensions across both Abuja and Lagos terminals.

Addressing affected passengers, Enugu Air management explained that flight schedules are being continuously adjusted to manage the operational fallout while staff work to safeguard customer safety. The airline urged travelers to verify their flight statuses via SMS, email, and social media channels before heading to the airport, assuring that rebooking options and updates will be communicated directly as negotiations progress.
