On World Teachers’ Day, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State praised local teachers for their hard work and commitment to educating children. He emphasized that his administration will focus on improving teachers’ welfare and the education system.

In his message, Okpebholo recognized the vital role teachers play in society. He stated that progress in any community relies on investing in those who prepare young people for the future. He thanked public school teachers for their dedication, noting that their influence extends beyond the classroom.

Okpebholo assured teachers that their welfare is a priority for his government. Additionally, he mentioned the recruitment of 6,000 new teachers to help fill staffing gaps in public schools.

He stressed the importance of having qualified teachers in both urban and rural areas, stating, “We cannot build schools and leave them without teachers. Our priority is to ensure that our children have access to qualified teachers.”
