Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has shared insights on why the All Progressives Congress (APC) included politicians from other parties in President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign council. Wike, who is part of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made these comments during a media event in Abuja.
Wike explained that the decision to include non-APC members was to welcome those willing to help Tinubu’s re-election efforts. He emphasized that the campaign should unite individuals who support the president, regardless of their political affiliations.
He stated, “The president, in his wisdom, said there are those who are not members of our political parties but have something to offer to his re-election.” Wike believes it is important to accommodate these individuals to strengthen the campaign.
Wike also noted that the re-election campaign should not be limited to APC members alone. He pointed out that while the APC serves as a platform, it is essential to include others who are ready to support the president’s work for Nigeria.
As part of the expanded campaign council, Wike will lead the APC campaign efforts in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory. Other appointed coordinators include Chukwuma Soludo from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who will manage the campaign in Anambra State, and Ademola Adeleke, who will oversee Osun State.
