University of Ghana Requires Students with Low Grades to Withdraw

The University of Ghana has announced that undergraduate students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) below 1.00 must withdraw from their programs by the end of the 2025/2026 academic year.

This decision was shared in a public notice from the university’s Academic Affairs Directorate. It cites university regulations that require students to maintain a CGPA of at least 1.00 to advance to the next academic level. The rules also state that students who do not meet this requirement cannot go on academic probation.

The notice explained that students whose CGPA is below 1.00 after all grades are received will not be considered in good academic standing and must withdraw.

Affected students are instructed to check their CGPAs through the university’s Management Information System Web. They can log in using their student ID and PIN to select the “Withdrawal Request” option. For some programs, the relevant schools or departments will handle the withdrawal process on behalf of the students.

Students who have questions are encouraged to reach out to their College Academic Offices. The university’s Careers and Counselling Directorate is also available to assist students during this transition.
