Sunday Igboho Warns Against Threats to Olubadan’s Throne in Oyo State

Sunday Igboho, a prominent figure in the Yoruba nation movement, has issued a warning regarding any plans to remove the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja. He made this statement during a recent visit to the Olubadan’s palace in Ibadan, Nigeria.

In a video shared by Oyo Affairs, Igboho expressed that attempts to dethrone Ladoja could lead to unrest in Oyo State. He emphasized that any governor who tries to remove the monarch would face strong opposition. “They will declare a state of emergency. If any governor tries it, it is from Soka here that this state would be shaking,” he stated.

Igboho questioned the motives behind any plans to remove Ladoja, insisting that as a native of Oyo State, the Olubadan deserves respect. He stated, “Why will you remove Olubadan? All of us are from Oyo State.”

He also addressed rumors about potential threats to the monarch’s safety, urging that such discussions should remain mere gossip. Igboho reassured Ladoja that he had nothing to fear, asserting that no one would dare to attack him, especially in his own home.

Igboho’s comments come amid allegations that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is considering actions against Ladoja. These claims were denied by the state government, which stated that there were no plans to remove the monarch. Ladoja’s media aide also confirmed that there is no conflict between the governor and the Olubadan.

In light of the ongoing situation, local leaders have encouraged Ladoja to stay above political disputes and continue acting as a unifying figure for people across different political parties.
