Governor Abiodun Promises Economic Growth and New Awujale for Ogun East by 2027

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has promised that a new Awujale, the traditional ruler of Ijebuland, will be appointed before May 29, 2027. He made this announcement during a meeting with local leaders in Ijebu-Ode on Tuesday.

At the meeting, Abiodun discussed the importance of the Awujale institution to the culture and unity of Ijebuland. He assured attendees that his administration is focused on ensuring a smooth and peaceful selection process for the new monarch, encouraging the community to remain patient as this unfolds.

The governor also highlighted the economic potential of Ogun East, citing new oil exploration activities and the planned Gateway Deep-Sea Port as key drivers for growth. He noted that these developments could create jobs and attract investments to the area.

Abiodun mentioned the discovery of crude oil near Eba Island and the deep-sea port project, which he believes will significantly boost the local economy. He expressed confidence that these initiatives, along with the proposed Blue Marine Special Economic Zone, would position Ogun State as a leading destination for industrial investment and trade.

During the meeting, representatives from various community groups praised the governor for engaging with them and providing a platform to discuss local issues. They expressed support for the government’s development plans and committed to mobilizing community members for the All Progressives Congress in upcoming elections.

Abiodun emphasized the need for cooperation among government bodies, traditional leaders, and the private sector to achieve the state’s development goals. He also acknowledged the support from the Federal Government, particularly from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in advancing critical infrastructure projects.
