Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Pushing Teenager from Building in Imo State

The Imo State Police have arrested a 26-year-old man named Ifeanyi Chukwu Joseph. He is accused of pushing a 17-year-old girl, Chiamaka Chukwuokore, from a two-storey building in Owerri, Imo State. The incident took place on November 1, 2026, around 1:00 p.m., following a reported argument between Joseph and Chukwuokore.

Chukwuokore is said to be the sister of Joseph’s girlfriend. After the fall, she suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Following the incident, a crowd became angry and tried to attack Joseph. However, police officers intervened and were able to protect him, taking him into custody.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry, an investigation is underway to understand the details of what happened. He urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information and to wait for official updates.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, assured the community that the investigation would be thorough. He called for calm and asked the public to let the police handle the situation professionally.
