ADC South-West Leadership Supports Atiku Abubakar, Denies Internal Conflicts

The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the South-West has rejected claims of an internal crisis within the party. They reaffirmed their support for Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

In a statement released on Monday, the South-West National Vice Chairman, Akin Omole, along with the six state chairmen, denied reports of a virtual meeting with Atiku on September 5, which was allegedly aimed at resolving leadership disagreements. They called these reports false and fabricated.

The party leaders emphasized that there is no division or leadership crisis within the ADC South-West. They stated their commitment to strengthening the party’s structures and achieving electoral success across the region.

“We fully support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate,” the statement read. The leaders highlighted Atiku’s leadership qualities and political experience, expressing their determination to work closely with him and other party officials.

They clarified that a meeting held in Ibadan on September 4 was focused on developing strategies to enhance the party’s presence and support for Atiku and other ADC candidates in the 2027 elections. The discussions included political strategy and grassroots engagement.

The ADC South-West leadership also dismissed any claims of discord, stating that political consultations are normal in a growing party. They urged members and supporters to ignore divisive narratives and remain focused on their goals.

As the ADC prepares for the elections, the party is working on grassroots mobilization and expanding its membership across the six South-West states: Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti. They aim to secure victories for ADC candidates in various elections in 2027.
