Court Blocks EFCC from Arresting Honda Nigeria Executives and Associates

A judge in Lagos has issued a temporary order preventing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from arresting or detaining executives and associates of Honda Manufacturing (Nigeria) Limited and Honda Automobile Western Africa Limited. This decision comes as part of an ongoing legal case.

The order affects more than 200 applicants, including company executives, dealers, and business partners. They sought the court’s protection due to concerns about being called for questioning and facing possible arrest during the EFCC’s investigation.

The legal team for the applicants, led by Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, argued that the EFCC’s actions could violate their rights to personal freedom and privacy. The court agreed to the request, stopping the EFCC from taking any action against these individuals until the case is resolved.

The applicants specifically requested that the EFCC not compel them to report for questioning or issue further invitations. They also sought to prevent any harassment or intimidation related to the investigation.

The judge has scheduled the next court session for November 2026, allowing time for further proceedings in this matter.
